- The camera bracket: Ford writes that camera-equipped windshields "use precise Ford Motor Company original equipment brackets designed to provide optical clarity and alignment," and that untested glass may not provide accurate camera position or distortion-free vision. Ford names the functions at risk: Lane-Keeping, Pre-Collision Assist, Evasive Steering Assist and Auto High-Beam.
- The glass is structural: "Bonded windshield glass is a structural member that helps distribute crash energy." Ford states it has not validated whether aftermarket glass delivers equivalent structural integrity.
